Krameria 2 Residence

This 1950s Ranch had good bones but was too small for these clients and their young children. A modest 1-story addition was preferred by the homeowners vs. adding a full second story, which kept the whole house all on one level. Locating the addition off to one side of the yard allowed to house to wrap around the beautifully crafted rear yard which had been cultivated for years by the homeowners—one of whom is a landscape architect.

With a new layout and large sliding doors opening out onto the yard, the house gained a new sense of focus and greater sense of connection to the outdoors. On the exterior, a fresh coat of paint and new entry door and windows were highlighted by new plantings and three new fire pits, courtesy of the landscape architect.

On the interior, a new slatted walnut wall wrapped the existing kitchen, adding a new dramatic accent to the flanking entry, living room, and dining rooms.
